Vana Wiru Hotel J www.vanawiru.ee Address: Viru 11, 10140 Tallinn, Estonia Phone: + (372) 669-1500 Fax: + (372) 669-1501 Email: hotel@vanawiru.ee
Location Rating: Excellent. This 5 storey hotel is located on Viru Street, right in the very heart of the Old Town, the historical center of the city. It was opened after renovation in 2002. Lobby Appearance: Impressive. The spacious lobby with a fireplace and a wide screen TV panel above it looked irreproachably clean, modern and … empty. A lady at the front desk told me that the hotel was booked at weekends and half-empty in the middle of the week in low season. Hmm… It seemed rather strange for a centrally located hotel. Room Appearance: Good. All rooms I saw were clean, modern and designed in the style of minimalism. You could even call them plain, but I guess it’s a part of the style. Actually, you’ll find there everything you need: cable TV, a telephone, a mini bar, air-conditioning, a hairdryer, internet connection. Some bathrooms are equipped with shower cabins (or just a shower with a curtain), some with bathtubs, saunas and 2 suites have Jacuzzis. They also have rooms for non-smokers, allergic and disabled people. I especially liked the attic rooms on the fifth floor. They all look romantic and have a great view of the Old Town and the harbor. Hotel Restaurant: There is the Complimento restaurant with Italian cuisine and the Vana Wiru pub on the first floor. Other Amenities: They have a Finnish sauna and a Turkish sweating-room, a business center with conference and meeting rooms. There is also a spacious parking lot in front of the main entrance. Rates: Single €96, Double/twin €109, Junior Suite €135, Junior Suite de Luxe €160, Suite €205, Suite de Luxe €224. No charge for children under 7 sharing room with parents. Useful Nearby Businesses: Since all the sights are located within walking distance, just take a map and explore the Old Town on your own. And don’t forget to exchange the money. There is a Tallinna Aripank office nearby (Vana Viru street). They have a very good exchange rate. Would I Stay Here? Yes. Staff Speaks English? Certainly. And they are very friendly. Comments: Just check out if the upper floor rooms are available in the hotel. You’ll definitely enjoy the view!
