* Unimpressed With Hotel Security. High Risk Of Reservation Cancellation *

This hotel is owned by the Ministry Of Defense, which is a little bit funny to me since I was able to walk all over the hotel without permission. Almost the entire hotel is on the junky side. It's old and it shows. There is one small area with a renovated corridor on the fifth floor. I imagine they have nice rooms there. I was unable to see them. They say that when they have military conferences there, then they have to cancel the reservations of foreigners, so the front desk says it isn't a good place for foreigners to stay.

Tatiana says it is a good location. Up the street is the old Soviet Army Theater, and down the street is an animal theater. The Olympic Stadium is nearby. I think this hotel would be good for poor students who are willing to rough it. The hotel struck me as very basic and very poor. It appeared to me that some rooms don't have their own showers.

And despite having exterior video surveillance and a security guard at the front entrance, I think security is not good enough. A much better hotel in this area is the Renaissance Hotel, which is operated by Marriott.
