Saint Petersburg Hotel        (no website)          Kiev, Ukraine

email: s-peter@i.kiev.ua Saint Petersburg Hotel - Kiev, Ukraine

Street Address: 4, Taras Shevchenko Blvd.

Rates: $32.50 to $113

Location Rating: Excellent

Proximity To Metro: A nice 10 minute walk to Kreshatik metro station.

Lobby Appearance: Looks old.

Room Appearance: Old. Plain. Basic. Yet clean. They do have one new room, with a crib.

Useful Nearby Businesses: Everything you can imagine is here. From a Bentley dealership to Versace to whatever.

Hotel Restaurants: In the basement they have a restaurant with a nice atmosphere. It looks fairly recent. Not bad.

Other Amenities: A bank and cash machine s in the hotel lobby.

Would I Stay Here? Yes. But only for the excellent location, not for comfort.

Staff Speaks English? Some do.

Comments: The cheapest room has a sink and a 19 inch TV. A short walk down the hall are the separate men's and women's bathroom facilities. In the men's section, there are two shower stalls (not private) and in a separate section are 3 private toilet stalls.

The nicest room I saw was #511. It has been recently updated and has a new bathroom. For some reason, even though it was new, I found the room to be a little dreary. Plus, there is a lot of road noise through the windows of this room and the other rooms I saw.

I was surprised how tall the ceiling was in the hallways. You can tell this is an old place. However, everything is clean and the location is quite good. The Premiere Palace Hotel, which is way more expensive, is across the street. It is in the heart-of-the-city part of Kiev.

Reviews for Kiev hotels were done in October and November 2005 by Ed Ryder. Room pricing should not be relied upon as accurate since rates change for various reasons including strong demand and inflation, and where rates have been provided, it is only meant to serve as a guide and all pricing should be verified with the hotel.
