* Extremely Impressive. Renovated Rooms Have The City's Second Best Hotel Bathrooms *

The Renaissance Hotel is highly impressive. If you have high expectations of your hotel, then this one worthy of your consideration. Their pricing is competitive compared to others in this elite class.

I was greeted by well-dressed guest relations manager Michael Sergienko as soon as I walked in the lobby. He directed me where I needed to go to get a facility tour, and then a moment later, he stopped by to make sure everything was going smoothly. It wasn't. He took over and did a superb job of showing the hotel. And I was very impressed.

The Renaissance is managed by Marriott. It opened in 1991 and has 475 rooms. They have a good shuttle bus schedule that goes to various places such as Pushkin Square, Red Square and Izmailovo Souvenir Market.

The hotel is very elegant, very clean. The staff is professionally dressed. Classical music was playing during my visit.

The bathrooms in the renovated rooms are fantastic. I think the Hyatt has the best bathrooms and the Renaissance has the second best. The Renaissance bathrooms are gorgeous. Older bathrooms are still fine, but be sure to ask for an updated bathroom.

The Presidential Suite I think is a good value at $1400 (plus 18% tax) compared to other presidential suites at other central hotels. It had multiple large rooms including a really comfortable office and a boardroom/dining room table area and a living room. It's like a house - a great place to hang or throw a party.

The 12th floor is the "Club Level." It is extra secure. Food is waiting for the guests. There are nice lounge areas. It is a very attractive area.

In the building they have a famous bakery. I loved the changing rooms which lead to their 22 meter pool. And I loved the pool. They have a big gym. The hotel has really nice places to eat. They have a movie theater which shows English language films.

As for pricing, they currently, as of March 29, 2004, have a $219 plus tax deal for their standard rooms, which are very good rooms. That is a good value for this kind of hotel in Moscow. Prices change all the time though due to demand and season. So don't count on that rate.

The Renaissance is a fine place to stay.
