The photo doesn't capture how nice this hotel is. Plus it is still a construction sight as of this date (January 2004). One of the city's best hotels.

This hotel is special. As of January 14th, 2003 - the date of my visit, it is not yet open, but I could easily tell from the building facade that this is going to be an elite hotel.

Director Of Sales - "Luba" greeted me and gave us a thorough facility tour. The building is almost ready to open. It is going to be fantastic. The hotel features 102 comfortable rooms. There is a large, attractive atrium. I loved the corridors, the carpet color/design, the walls, the deep cherrywood finish on the doors and trim. The rooms are quite comfortable and well appointed - with air conditioning of course. They have one of the best conference rooms in the city with a great view of Saint Isaac's Cathedral - very impressive. Some of the rooms have a view of Saint Isaac's Square. I was very impressed with the ornate metalwork of the canopy over the front entryway to the hotel. And the lobby and other ground floor areas are pleasing to the eye. This hotel is *very* comfortable.

The great thing about the Renaissance is its location. Walk one minute or less and you are in the very attractive, very interesting Saint Isaac's Square.

Among the 2 other hotels in this square: the Angleterre and the Astoria, I believe the Renaissance is superior, and the Renaissance is my top recommendation for this part of the city center. If you prefer an old-fashioned decor with wood floors in the room, then the Astoria is for you. I prefer the coziness of the brand new Renaissance, which has carpeted floors in the rooms.

The Renaissance is a great new hotel for this city. It is not as extravagant as the new Grand Hotel Emerald, but the Renaissance's location is better. Expect room costs to start at around $350 per night during Summer. They expect to have special pricing during their grand opening in March.

The Renaissance has been designed to accommodate wheelchair bound guests.

I stayed in this hotel 11/2/06 to 17/2/06 on the 8th floor.  This is a
very nice hotel with a wonderful staff. Everyone was helpful and gave
that little bit of extra effort to make our stay comfortable.  There is
an onsite (behind the front desk) money changer, that gives a pretty
good rate.  The breakfast buffet has 70 to 100 items, including fish,
pouched eggs, smoked meats. I would gladly stay at this hotel again.
