Prin Business Center Hotel J
www.prinbc.com/index1.htm
St. Petersburg, Russia Rates: Luxury Suite $110; double $90; single $80. Location Rating: Fair. It is far from the center
of the city in an extremely industrial neighborhood. But it is close to a metro
station, and the views from the 14th floor are interesting. Right down the
street is Kirovsky Zavod. In soviet times it was a military factory and
foreigners were not allowed in this area. The view is strange. All you see from
high up in the hotel are factories, railroad cars and smokestacks. Next door is
a fairly large abandoned building. The view is not pretty. But to me it was
interesting.
Proximity To Metro: Very good. You can walk to Kirovsky Zavod Metro Station in less than 10 minutes. And this station is among the most interesting, and clearly unique. Lobby Appearance: After I walked in, I said "Wow." I was impressed. They have a very nice lobby. Room Appearance: The rooms are all modern and very comfortable. Useful Nearby Businesses: A lower class outdoor market is across the street. Kiosk businesses are outside the metro. There are other businesses around, but you may not want to spend too much time exploring the surroundings here. The air quality is not normal here. Hotel Restaurants: They have a restaurant and bar area. Other Amenities: Wake-up calls. Safety boxes. 24 hour guarded parking lot. Urgent medical aid. Satellite TV. Would I Stay Here? Yes, I would be happy to stay here. The only negative is the location. Staff Speaks English? Yes, they understand some. Comments: The local metro station is one of the most interesting I have seen, and it's a quick walk to the hotel. The hotel doorway was locked when we arrived, but a door person allowed us entry. This is a business center. Companies have offices here. Only 36 hotel rooms exist and they are of excellent quality. For the money, it's a good value. Unfortunately, the air outside has a certain odor. It was not unpleasant. It smelled like popcorn, but from all the smokestacks around, I imagine it was something else. I don't think this is a neighborhood you should have a casual stroll in. It struck me as probably being among the most industrial areas on the planet. I had never seen such an industrial area like this before, so I found the views on the 14th floor to be very curious.
