Rates: Single standard $117, twin standard $138, renovated single $170, renovated double $191, suite $349.
Location Rating: Good. About a 15 minute walk to the city center.
Proximity To Metro:
Lobby Appearance: Old with recent updating.
Room Appearance: They have been updated. And they are just okay - not spectacular. I actually hate the dark, dreary maroon bathroom tiles.
Useful Nearby Businesses: The Rus Hotel is next door. The best shopping is 15 minutes away by foot.
Hotel Restaurants: They have a couple of dining halls and a lobby bar.
Other Amenities: The President Hotel has a pretty good free weight gym. And it's not too cramped. They have a nice little indoor pool. It is not deep. There is a sauna, a Turkish bath, beauty salon, and massages are available. In addition, they have a night club and a real, but small casino with table games.
Would I stay here? Yes. But it wouldn't be among my top choices.
Staff speaks English? Yes.
Comments: A bowl of free candy is at the reception desk. As you enter the casino on the ground floor, there is a bar with a large interesting fish tank. And on the main floor there is a smaller tank with red bellied piranhas. The hotel has 340 air conditioned rooms. Their brochure says the room price includes "buffet breakfast, handling of two pieces of luggage, open parking lot, mail delivery, gym, indoor pool, sauna (7:30--11:00a.m.)." Room rates are about 10% less during the off season. I really hated the dark lighting in the bathrooms and the dark tile. It looked depressing to me.
