Street Address: ulitsa Pushkinskaya, 5-7/29

* The peak of excellence *

Rates: Starting at $372. And it can go way up from there depending upon the room.

Location Rating: Very good. But it's going to be tough to cross the street here. Traffic is terrible. Lots of interesting sights in this area which could be considered part of the heart of the city.

Proximity To Metro: A 12 to 15 minute walk.

Lobby Appearance: You get the feeling you have walked into the classiest, most upscale hotel in the city.

Room Appearance: Beautiful bathrooms. Rooms look new and are very comfortable. Even the singles are spacious.

Useful Nearby Businesses: Really fancy shopping mall is down the hill.

Hotel Restaurants: Restaurant Sumosan is a classy Japanese restaurant with optional private dining rooms that look cool. On the 8th floor is the Empire Restaurant. They understand English there and totally have the service attitude. They did a great job of making me feel welcome. The Empire Restaurant has interesting views.

Other Amenities: Carpets in the elevators are changed daily and tell you what day it is. The gym is pretty good. It's well stocked with free weights and machines. The pool area is really nice! The guest rooms each have a safe. They do have a few rooms for "invalids." Looks like they have a ritzy casino. It seems to be a high-roller's place.

Would I stay here? Oh yes I would : )

Staff speaks English? Yes, certainly. This is a polished, service-oriented group of people with excellent English skills.

Comments: This is one of the fanciest, most expensive hotels in Kiev.

Reviews for Kiev hotels were done in October and November 2005 by Ed Ryder. Room pricing should not be relied upon as accurate since rates change for various reasons including strong demand and inflation, and where rates have been provided, it is only meant to serve as a guide and all pricing should be verified with the hotel.
