Location Rating: Very good if you need to be close to the University Of Pennsylvania. Historic district is not within easy walking distance. Lobby Appearance: Excellent Boat House Row Mural behind the front desk (although the mural at the Boat House Bar in the Rittenhouse Hotel has greater visual appeal). Room Appearance: Corridors of the hotel are very ordinary. Rooms are much more attractive. Room 1827 is very comfortable. It has blue and beige colors with a queen bed, desk, chair with ottoman, 26 inch TV. The bathroom is tiny but nice and it has a "crescent" shower rod which allows extra maneuvering space. The heater rushes air into the room and makes a noticeable on-going sound. Useful Nearby Businesses: There is a "Wawa" convenience store across the street. You can get sandwiches and all kinds of snacks there. Plus a pizza restaurant is also across the street. Hotel Restaurants: There is a restaurant which is attached to the lobby. It looks okay (ordinary). But it isn't anything like the Italian restaurant at the nearby Inn At Penn. Other Amenities: Rooms have: a robe, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, individual climate control. On the 7th floor across from room 701 is the hotel's fitness center. It is a small room that feels cramped with its equipment close together. There are no free weights. One 26 inch TV is in the room. A key card is needed for entry. The lower level is where their meeting rooms are. The corridors there are very attractive and well-lit (while guest floors have dreary halls). Would I Stay Here? Yes. The rooms are quite comfortable to me and the sounds from the heater would not bother me. Comments: I saw four rooms. The most comfy was the smallest. I liked the lighting best there. In the suite, room 1602, I truly hated the lighting from the chandelier over the little dining room table. The suite also had a living room area with sofa, chairs, coffee table, 26 inch TV. And another 26 inch TV was next to the king-sized bed. This was all like one big room with different sections. Strangely, the room was clean, but things were in minor disarray. For example, the lamps were not well-positioned on the end tables. The sofa and living room furniture were not in alignment. The microwave on top of the refrigerator was crooked. The bathroom rug was crooked. The pillows on the bed were not set up correctly. But the room was clean. In comparison, the Sofitel Hotel strives for perfection and they wouldn't slip on details like that. The other 3 rooms were better with the details. The bathrooms are small here compared to others. My favorite hotel in this area is the Inn At Penn.
