Location Rating: Excellent heart of the city location. Next to Convention Center. Reading Terminal Market is around the block, plus the Gallery Mall.

Lobby Appearance: The one story lobby looks brand new with a beautiful marble floor and fireplace.

Room Appearance: I liked the rooms and I especially liked the piece of furniture that contains the microwave oven and mini-refrigerator. It is very attractive and no other hotel here has anything similar to that. The rooms look new. The lighting is fine. I would be comfortable here. The style of furniture is not old, not modern, something in-between. Whatever it's called, the furniture has been tastefully chosen.

Useful Nearby Businesses: Since the location is the heart of the city, you can get just about anything within a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

Hotel Restaurants: The "Tenth Floor Grill." I found it exciting to discover this restaurant on the hotel's 10th floor. I liked being there very much. To me, I just loved being in that environment with the high-up views of the city below. The 30 foot tall ceiling adds a certain quality to the main room. A nice bar is there, plus a large dual-sided fireplace and a TV over the fireplace. The Tenth Floor Grille is the standout feature of this hotel. You can enjoy a made-to-order breakfast there.

Other Amenities: They have a small pool which is 3 and a half feet deep. It has an ADA lift chair for handicapped guests. A hot tub is also there. The fitness room has 6 pieces of equipment. I was told that neither the pool or fitness room get much use since their clientele is mostly corporate.

Rooms have 2 dual line phones with data ports and a good-sized desk, plus the usual room accessories, including a 26 inch TV and high speed internet access.

Overnight self-parking is $22.

Business center has free internet access through its two computer work stations.

Self-service laundry facilities are on every floor.

Would I Stay Here? Yes.

Comments: This Hilton Garden Inn has 279 rooms. The owners purchased an "air lease" and built this hotel on top of an existing parking garage. The hotel is 5 years old. Eleven rooms are set aside for handicapped travellers. Approximately 20 rooms have been set aside for smokers on the 7th floor. Pets are not allowed.

Although everything looks new and in excellent condition, the corridor carpeting is being replaced right now.

Junior suites are spacious.

Check-in time is 4pm.

The pluses of staying here:

1. Location - next to Convention Center and near Reading Terminal Market. City Hall is an easy stroll away. The Market Street East station is around the corner.

2. Tenth Floor Grill - I really like it there.

3. The entire facility is in excellent condition.
