Location Rating: Excellent if you need to be near the Convention Center. City Hall is near. Independence Hall is about 7 blocks away.

Lobby Appearance: New, comfortable modern lobby.

Room Appearance: I like the rooms. Nice, comfortable, cozy modern rooms with good lighting.

Useful Nearby Businesses: Within a ten minute walk are all sorts of places, like Kinkos, Starbucks, and Reading Terminal Market with its many eateries.

Hotel Restaurants: None. But they have a large breakfast room and they say a generous breakfast buffet with a wide variety of items is included in the room rate.

Other Amenities: Free wifi internet access. If you don't bring a computer, they do have 2 internet terminals in the lobby. The lobby internet access is 20 cents per minute with a $5 minimum if you pay with your credit card. Complimentary cookies in the afternoon. If you need to wash your clothes, they've got washers and dryers you can use for $1 per load (each). That is a good price. Small fitness area and pool. Valet parking = $18 or $14 for self park at the lot which is about a half block from the hotel. Twenty-four hour bellman at the front.

Would I Stay Here? Yes. I would be perfectly happy staying in one of these rooms.

Comments: The Hampton Inn at 1301 Race Street is just 3 years old. It has 250 rooms. Of these, 20 are suites and 160 are "double doubles." The Hampton Inn is affiliated with Hilton, and the standards for cleanliness, quality and service are high. While other hotels have been experiencing slow times, this one seems to be doing pretty well. Last weekend they were sold out, and it appears the coming weekend will be strong for them too. I found the rooms to be very comfortable and I liked the decor and lighting. The rooms have 25 inch televisions and suites have a microwave, refrigerator, sofa bed and an extra TV. It's a very comfortable new hotel.
