Photo: Embassy Suites Center City is in the white tubular building to the right.

Location Rating: Close To City Hall. Art Museum is a 15 or 20 minute walk. Four Seasons Hotel and their great restaurant is steps away.

Lobby Appearance: Under complete renovation as of January 2005. Looks like it will be really nice.

Room Appearance: Spacious 2 room suites. They have fancy beds that appear really comfortable. New carpet. Some new furniture. Kitchenette with microwave, mini-refrigerator and sink. Two 26 inch televisions.

Useful Nearby Businesses: "Subway" fast food across the street. Nearby on the way to City Hall is a building called "The Phoenix." They have a Starbucks cafe and an Irish restaurant called "Tir Na Nog Irish Bar & Grille."

Hotel Restaurants: T.G.I.Friday's restaurant is connected to the hotel and breakfast by Friday's is free to hotel guests. After the renovation of the lobby is finished, there will be a bar there. During warmer months guests can sit outside near the bar and take in the city ambiance of loud buses and honking horns near the hotel's little outdoor fountain.

Other Amenities: You can check your email for free with the room TV. But if you want to surf the web, it will cost you $9.95 per day. The second floor fitness room has a small sauna. I liked the fitness room. There are interesting city views and a TV to watch as you use a treadmill or whatever. It is a comfortable room. And it will soon be expanded. Currently (January 2005) they have 2 treadmills, 2 stair stepper machines, 2 bike machines, 3 nautilus machines. Their vending machine room takes the place of a gift shop. There are all kinds of things you can buy from a vending machine here. And you can do laundry. The dryer will cost you $1.50. The washer is $1.75. Bring quarters. For two hours in the evenings on weekdays they have complimentary cocktails. I was told you can drink all you want.

Comments: There is no indoor atrium as in other Embassy Suites locations. Their website says they have a jogging track. That must be a mistake. The building dates back to 1963. There are 28 floors and 288 guest rooms. Parking is expensive. I believe it is $27 per day. The 28th floor has a number of 50-person meeting rooms. Interesting views can be had from up there. Pets are not allowed in the building.

It's a good place to stay, especially for a long-term stay. Popular too. After my fourth visit they finally had a room they could show me. Check-in time is 4pm.
