The hotel appears to be fairly new. The location is very good at the waterfront area known as "Penn's Landing" and the hotel is in the shadow of the giant Ben Franklin suspension bridge - a bridge that at one time was the largest in the world. Although this Comfort Inn is not in an isolated location, it gives me this feeling. At a hotel like the Alexander Inn or the Penn's View Inn, or the Omni, you just walk out the door and you are in an interesting Philadelphia neighborhood. But at the Comfort Inn's location, busy interstate highway 95 (I-95) is behind the hotel and busy Columbus Boulevard is in front of the hotel, and there are no interesting neighbors next to the hotel. However, if you can make it across the multi-lane Columbus Boulevard alive, a Dave & Busters entertainment complex is maybe a 10 minute walk to the north, plus other nightclub types of places and the city's "Festival Pier." Plus there are also some nice places to eat across the street at the Pier 5 marina area and a little further south is the ship restaurant Moshulu and the Chart House Restaurant.

Rooms at the Comfort Inn are an excellent value. They are modern, quite comfortable and priced to suit the budget traveller. However, there is no pool, exercise room, restaurant, or business center, and the staff, unfortunately, is at the lower end of professionalism. During my visit, the lounge area was a bit messy and their guests had trashed the breakfast room.

I liked this Comfort Inn because the rooms were so comfortable and I enjoyed seeing the river view from high up. This is an excellent hotel to watch the fireworks from during the New Year's and Independence Day celebrations. Onsite parking is available ($13 per day, plus tax). They have a shuttle. A better located hotel with river views is the Hyatt Regency.
