Okolitsa Mini Hotel K (no website) St.
Petersburg, Russia
e-mail: no e-mail Street Address: Prospect Pyatiletok 8 korpus 1 (located in Okolitsa trade and entertainment center which occupies a separate building). Located on the 2nd floor, no elevator. Rates: Suite $110, standard double $80, standard triple $87, rooms sharing a toilet and a bathroom $50-$60, extra bed $15 Location Rating: Poor. In a residential area of the city. Boring neighborhood. It's a 5 minute walk to Ice Palace “Ledovy Dvorets” sport stadium and concert hall. Proximity To Metro: Excellent. Three minute walk to Prospekt Bolshevikov metro station. Lobby Appearance: Plain. Definitely needs updating. The TV they have in the lobby is very small. I doubt you can see anything when you’re sitting on the sofa and waiting in line to have a shower. Room Appearance: This small hotel features 11 rooms for 2 and 3 people. All rooms are plainly decorated (if decorated at all), with basic furniture. Rooms that share a bathroom/toilet are the worst. The rooms are clean, but they lack coziness. The only room I liked was the suite. It looked nicer than the rest but still…I don’t think it's very encouraging when you enter a room that has no curtains on the windows, where heating is turned on only when it gets really cold, and in summer-time there's no air-conditioning. I was surprised they permitted smoking in the rooms. The stench of cigarette smoke remained in the air in some rooms. Standard rooms have a TV and a telephone. The suite features a fridge.
Useful Nearby Businesses: Currency exchange office, entertainment center with pool and jack pot machines, night-club and restaurant, beauty parlor. Hotel Restaurants: There is a café on the first floor of the building called "Bamboo" where guests have discounts for any meal. Other Amenities: Parking, mending clothes, laundry services, visa support and visa registration, booking tickets. Would I Stay Here? No. Staff Speaks English? I don’t think so. Comments: It opened in early September (2004) but it looks like it already needs some restoration and renovation.
