Nevsky 74 Mini Hotel
J (no website)
St. Petersburg, Russia
e-mail: msargas@yandex.ru Street Address: Nevsky pr. 74, apt.23 (This mini-hotel is located on the 5th floor of the same building as Nevsky 74 Bed & Breakfast which is on the 3rd floor.) Rates: Single $50, double $70, two-room double $120, semi-suite $120, extra bed $10. Location Rating: Excellent. It’s right in the middle of Nevsky Prospect. Proximity To Metro: Very good. Less than 10 minute walk to Gostiny Dvor, Mayakovskaya, Vladimirskaya/Dostoyevskaya metro stations. Lobby Appearance: Classy and very cozy, with a comfortable sofa and armchairs, and nice paintings decorating the walls. Room Appearance: Spotless. They have 16 rooms: 4 singles, 8 doubles, 1 family suite (also called the two-room double), and 3 semi-suites. Each room has: a TV, telephone, fridge and a mini-bar with VERY low prices (some stores on Nevsky might charge more for what you get here!) A semi-suite also has a hair-dryer, a very comfortable couch for guests, a microwave oven, an electric tea-pot, and various kitchen utensils for several people. Rooms have no air-conditioning. You can smoke on the balcony if your room has it. (the view from the balcony is marvelous - you can see all of Nevsky Prospect!) All the rooms are spacious and are very nicely decorated. Bathrooms are brand-new - some have shower-cabins, some bath-tubs. Useful Nearby Businesses: There’s the restaurant Quisisana and the café Mamounya in the courtyard. A nice Chinese restaurant is nearby. Hotel Restaurants: Breakfast is served in your room. Other Amenities: Internet, fax. Would I Stay Here? Yes. Staff Speaks English? Yes. The director even lives there! Comments: Everything’s perfect about this hotel BUT it’s located on 5th and 6th floors (no elevator) and there’s a VERY NARROW and EXTREMELY STEEP staircase leading upstairs. Even I had difficulty climbing it, and I’m only 22! And if you’re tall beware of low ceilings in the staircase area! If you choose to stay here, make sure you get a room on the 5th floor, otherwise you'll face going up and down those really steep stairs.
