Kronverkskaya Hotel
K (no website)
St. Petersburg, Russia
e-mail: no-email Street Address: 42 Zverinskaya ulitsa Rates: Twin $55, triple $65 (more expensive in summer-time). Location Rating: Good. Located quite close to the Peter and Paul Fortress and the St.Petersburg Zoo. Proximity To Metro: Fair. In the middle between Gorkovskaya and Sportivnaya metro stations. Approximately 10 to 15 minutes by foot to either one. Lobby Appearance: Modern but gloomy looking with only a few lamps on. Room Appearance: All five rooms are twins, equipped with TVs, telephones, anti-mosquito plugs, heaters (no air conditioning). All windows face the courtyard and to my taste the rooms are very dark (well, probably because windows have heavy curtains?). Smoking is allowed. Useful Nearby Businesses: None nearby, but if you walk just for a while you’ll get to Gorkovskaya metro area where you can find anything for dining and having fun.
Hotel Restaurants: They have a small café on the first floor. Lunches and dinners can be ordered in advance. Other Amenities: Internet connection through the telephone line is available if you bring your own laptop. Visa support and registration, transfers, hairdryers, irons, telephone cards, a mini-bar. Would I Stay Here? I’d prefer not to. Staff Speaks English? Yes. Comments: This hotel belongs to a Russian travel company Rusbusinesstour that does all the booking. I was unimpressed by this place. Though it has opened quite recently (2004) the feeling is like it’s been here for ages.
