Street Address: Kanal Griboyedova emb. (naberezhnaya) 174A, separate entrance, (no elevator).

Rates: Single $50, double $57, kingsize $70, extra bed $12; rooms with common bathrooms and toilets: single $25, double $30.

Location Rating: Poor. The hotel is in the historical part of the city called Kolomna. It's famous because many Russian poets and writers mentioned it in their works BUT now there’s nothing fancy there. No sights. Buildings are old and crappy. I consider this area desolate and dangerous at night. If you're a big fan of architecture then you might find this neighborhood interesting. There is no easy public transportation in this area and you have to hike to a place where you can catch a mini-bus.

Proximity To Metro: Poor. Expect to walk 35 or more minutes to Sadovaya/Sennaya Ploschad metro station. It’s much easier to take a bus to this hotel: mini-busses (or route taxis)# 7, 19, 34, 212 from Sennaya metro station, #212 from Gostiny Dvor, #168, #169 from Nevsky Prospect, #34 Tekhnologochesky Institute.

Lobby Appearance: One word: CRAPPY.

Room Appearance: Old, soviet-era hotel in need of major renovation! Rooms feature a TV and a telephone. There is no air conditioning. The furniture is very old. Smoking is allowed in the stairwell, which I think is the only nice place in the whole building - white marble steps and lots and lots of flowers and plants!

Useful Nearby Businesses: None.

Hotel Restaurants: I can say the café is almost nice.

Other Amenities: Fax, internet ($2/hour), interpreting, booking tickets, transfers, tours, photocopying, photo camera rental, tape recorder rental.

Would I Stay Here? No.

Staff Speaks English? A little bit.

Comments: I think they ask too much for this location and this kind of accommodation. Credit cards not accepted.

Note From Ed: I've got to stomp on this hotel... they used a dirty trick with their website and have fraudulently portrayed their building as being a nice, clean almond color. Our photo here is how it really looks. They sloppily used a program to make their building look nicer than it really is. Sorry to spoil the surprise Kolomna - I hope you see the error of your ways and put a photo on your site that is an accurate representation of your facility. 10/23/2004.
