Katerina City Hotel J +7 (095) 795-2444 www.katerina.msk.ru Street Address: 6/1 Shluzovaya Embankment - Moscow, Russia
Location: Fair Nearest Metro: Paveletskaya Staff Speaks English? Yes. Would I Stay Here? Yes. * Very Modern Decor * Wow... I was surprised with this hotel. It's a good place. When I walked in, I saw a gleaming, spotless, modern-themed hotel lobby and I was quickly greeted by a friendly doorman in English. To my left was the "Alex Bar." There are 10 televisions there each running a different channel. At the bar you can also purchase a slice of cake. The display is tempting. A Swedish restaurant is down a long corridor from the lobby. The hotel people consider the design theme to be modern Swedish. And it is quite modern in appearance. It is a comfortable, orderly decor. On one of the upper floors they have a combination bar/library/cigar room. They also have an interesting conference room with a rooftop glass atrium (but it has an echo). There is a really nice jacuzzi on the lowest floor, plus 2 saunas. And the hotel has a small, but adequate fitness center. The Katerina was built in 1998. Further expansions were completed in 2000. They have 119 sound-proofed guest rooms and 6 conference rooms. Some corridors have interesting observation spots overlooking parts of the city. This hotel definitely is different from other hotels in Moscow. The interior design theme is very modern in appearance, the most modern I have seen in Moscow. The rooms are comfortable, fresh and spotless. Room pricing as of March 21, 2004 is between 190 to 420 euro.
