Street Address: Melnikova 4

* Among the very nicest mini-hotels in the city *

Rates: $157 to $295. Breakfast is included.

Location Rating: Very good. It is a central location just outside of the heart of the city.

Proximity To Metro: About a 4 minute walk to Lukjanovskaya metro station. And then only 1 or 2 stops to the heart of the city.

Lobby Appearance: High quality. Unusual.

Room Appearance: They invested a lot of money in this 11 room facility.

Useful Nearby Businesses: Connected to the hotel is the Lancelot restaurant. It is a related business. The neighborhood is busy and all kinds of shops and cafes are here.

Hotel Restaurants: The Lancelot restaurant has a medieval theme and the waitresses dress like medieval maidens.

Other Amenities: Really nice Russian billiards room with one table. Nice, nice sauna with Finnish and Turkish saunas, super showers, big jacuzzi. Free swimming pool. All rooms have air conditioning. The rooms I saw had 20 inch TVs, super-dooper boom boxes (stereos), and multi-jet showers. But room #5 had a 27 inch TV in the relaxation room and a 20 incher in the bedroom, plus a real jacuzzi tub. Internet access is available in the rooms. Things like hair dryers, bathrobes, little perfumes and things are in the rooms.

Would I Stay Here? Yes. It's classy.

Staff Speaks English? Yes.

Comments: Medieval-themed mini-hotel with 11 rooms. Opened January 1, 2005. Somebody put a lot of money into this place. Compared to _________, which also has a medieval theme, this place is more upscale, and more expensive. I was very impressed with the large murals. They commissioned an artist to paint these big pieces and it must have been very expensive. There are lots of details in this facility. Very clean. English is spoken well. The hotel entrance is hidden along the side of the Lancelot Restaurant in the back. It is about a 15 minute commute by trolley bus to Independence Square, or you can take the metro. The American consulate is nearby. It takes about 10 minutes to walk there. The American embassy is about 15 minutes away by foot.

I certainly was impressed with the Kamelot Hotel. It was an adventure to visit it. I found its atmosphere to be intriguing. I felt comfortable here. And it was a pleasure to discover it.

The Kamelot Hotel is located behind the Lancelot Restaurant.

Reviews for Kiev hotels were done in October and November 2005 by Ed Ryder. Room pricing should not be relied upon as accurate since rates change for various reasons including strong demand and inflation, and where rates have been provided, it is only meant to serve as a guide and all pricing should be verified with the hotel.
