The lobby is small and recently updated. Video surveillance is in the lobby. A recently renovated corridor I saw was so-so. Rooms 402 and 403 were basic, fairly recent, clean - not horrible. Rooms 205 and 206 had been recently updated, but they also did not excite me.

Maids were cleaning like crazy while I was there, like somebody had taken a whip to them!

The hotel is cheap. You can sleep in a clean place. It doesn't have the same comfort as the elite hotels though.

"Half lux" suites are available for 1800 rubles (3/30/2004).

I have just spent 6 night staying at the voskhod hotel in moscow, and have to say it is an experience i am not keen to repeat.

checking in is a mission, that is more like applying for a job. the rooms are basic, my first 3 days were in room 413. there was a single (uncomfortable) bed, tv, rattly old fridge and a shared bathroom. they were however cleaned daily and although not the best experience it probably could have been worse. and at a cost of about $30 per night it was a bargain and the metro is a 2 minute walk away and its 20 minute trip to the city. my last 3 nights were in room 725 and the facilities were the same although i did have my own bathroom and b/fast was included in the cost.

the facilities were ok i guess, restaurant and cafe. the sour faced old bag in the cafe was very efficient and over time her manner grows on you and it is quite fun to watch her with the other guests. no one there speaks english, but one lady in the restaurant was helpful with the menu with the aid of my dictionary.

there is an internet cafe about a 15minute walk up the road that was 40ruble per hour, the price of dinner in the hotel was cheap and the beer a bargain at 25-30 rubles a 0.5l.

for the money it is a bargain, but i dont think that given a choice i would stay there again. if you want cheap and convenient then sure stay there and it is worth a laugh. if you want a great service, facilities and a comfortable bed stay elsewhere. you dont pay much to stay here, but you certainly get what you pay for, but after walking all day and sightseeing it was somewhere to lay down and sleep.

rating, 3/10
