email: mail@ukraine-hotel.kiev.ua

Street Address: 4, Instytutska Street

* Ask for a renovated room with a view of Independence Square *

Rates: Standard rooms go for $66 to $128. Superior rooms are priced at $96 to $195. They also have a very nice apartment for $329.

Location Rating: In front of the hotel, you are certain to whip out your camera and take some shots. It is quite an interesting view of Independence Square.

Proximity To Metro:

Lobby Appearance: Sort of old.

Room Appearance: First I went to the creaky 12th floor. The standard single I saw had an uncomfortable-looking old bed. The room was tiny. It had a 20 inch TV. The bathroom was acceptable. In room 1209 the "standard lux" has beds that are too small for a tall guy like me. That room did have interesting Kiev views. The 6th floor on the other hand is much better, and the key lady was eager to present them. Room 628, which is an apartment, is the nicest accommodation I saw there. It has an office, and a private living room and it is just a nice, spacious, recently updated unit, with an excellent Independence Square view.

Useful Nearby Businesses: A classy underground mall is steps away from the hotel.

Hotel Restaurants: They do have a titty bar. It's nothing fancy.

Other Amenities: Business center. Sauna. Massage room.

Would I stay here? Yes, on the sixth floor. And I would request a room with a view of Independence Square.

Staff speaks English? Yes.

Comments: Their apartment is a unusual offering in this hotel market. The hotel dates back to 1961. It has 370 rooms with satellite television. Previously it was called the Hotel Moscow, but that was too confusing to people, so they made a name change.

Reviews for Kiev hotels were done in October and November 2005 by Ed Ryder. Room pricing should not be relied upon as accurate since rates change for various reasons including strong demand and inflation, and where rates have been provided, it is only meant to serve as a guide and all pricing should be verified with the hotel.
