Hotel Russ   K h This hotel needs an interior design professional.      (No website.)
St. Petersburg, Russia     Phone: 7 (812) 273-4683

Rates: Standard single $42; standard double $60; Updated rooms: 3 rooms for 2 people $128; luxury 2 rooms for 2 people $94; half luxury 2 rooms for 2 people $80; 2 rooms for 2 people $74; 1 room for 2 people $64 to $88. Breakfast included.

Location Rating: Fair. A major street, Liteny Prospekt, is nearby. And beautiful old buildings are everywhere. But there are some ugly areas nearby too. Close to the core of the city.Photo: Hotel Russ, St. Petersburg, Russia. This hotel would be a very bad choice.

Proximity to Metro: About a 15 minute walk to Cherneyshevskaya Metro Station or Mayakovskaya Metro Station..

Lobby Appearance: Clean. Looks okay.

Room Appearance: Of the 170 rooms here, we know that at least one is very, very nice and looks brand new. We saw a couple other rooms that we thought were so so. They only showed us their nicest rooms.

Useful Nearby Businesses: You won't have to walk far to find stores.

Hotel Restaurants: They have a bar area in the lobby that was sort of comfortable. They also have a cafe and a nightclub which we didn't see.

Other Amenities: Sauna, small pool, currency exchange.

Would I Stay Here? Maybe. We saw one great looking, brand new room. I would take that one, but not as my first choice.

Staff Speaks English? Yes.

Comments: From the street, this hotel looks like a moon base. I consider it to be a monstrosity. The building is completely out of character with the rest of the neighborhood. From the outward appearance, it looks like a modern hotel. Once you get inside though and see the corridors, you come to the realization that this place is old. And a bit ugly. When the elevator door opened and I saw the little lobby area on one of the guest floors, I was actually stunned by the awful colors I saw. The decor was terrible. The atmosphere was shocking to me. And the corridors were old, dark, and ugly. The rooms we saw were not so bad. (We only saw their best rooms.) But overall we were not excited about this place. Tanya thought it was a good hotel before we walked in. When we left she considered it to be just so so. It is not an impressive facility.
