The Hotel Piterskaya   J  But far from the metro and they don't register visas.  St. Petersburg, Russia
Phone: 7 (812) 318-7433

email: piter-hotel@peterlink.ru

Rates: Double with its own bathroom 780 rubles ($26); double with shared shower and toilet with another room 660 rubles ($22); rooms with 4 beds 840 rubles ($28).

Location Rating: Poor. It is very close to the Matisov Domik Hotel. The metro is far. The neighborhood is not that interesting, but you can walk to the Mariinsky Theater.Photo: Hotel Piterskaya, now called "Admiralteyskaya Hotel," St. Petersburg, Russia.

Proximity To Metro: Very poor. It probably is at least a 35 or 40 minute walk to Sennaya Ploshchad Metro Station. Our guide Elena and I waited for a mini-bus, or something to take us out of the neighborhood. We finally got a private driver to take us to the metro for 40 rubles.

Lobby Appearance: New. Plain. No elevator in this 5 story hotel.

Room Appearance: Modern. Bathrooms are modern. But some rooms share a toilet and a shower stall.

Useful Nearby Businesses: A cafe is at the local gas station and snack shops are also nearby.

Hotel Restaurants: They have a small cafe.

Other Amenities: They have an ironing room.

Would I Stay Here? Hmm... yes I think so. The conditions aren't bad, especially for the money.

Staff Speaks English? No.

Comments: The big negative with this facility, like the Matisov Domik, is that it is so far from the metro. The rooms were recently updated. They look kind of plain, but they are new in appearance. They don't handle visa registrations.

Hotel Piterskaya Update: January 2004. They have changed their name to the Admiralteyskaya Hotel.
