Hotel Na Muchnom L www.namuchnom.ru
St. Petersburg, Russia
e-mail: no email Street Address: 25 Sadovaya ul. (entrance from Bankovsky Pereulok), 2nd floor, no elevator. Rates: Single 1000 RUR (~$35), double 1400 RUR (~$45), a bed in a room for 3 or 4 people costs 500 RUR (~$17) , suite 3000 RUR (~$100) Location Rating: Very good. In the historic center of Saint Petersburg: 15 minute walk to Nevsky Prospect and St. Isaac’s Cathedral. Proximity To Metro: Excellent. Two minute walk from Sennaya Ploschad/Sadovaya metro stations. Lobby Appearance: When I first saw the entrance it gave me the impression that something modern and nice would be inside….but OH! My…! It’s simply awful! It’s an old, soviet-type hotel with 39 rooms. Their three renovated suites are so-so. The rest of the rooms are simply not suitable for foreign tourists. Room Appearance: Guests living in singles, doubles and rooms for 3 or 4 people must share common bathrooms and toilets (there are plenty of them along the corridor). Guest living in suites have their own bathrooms and toilets. Bathrooms and toilets in the renovated part are OK. Suites have a TV, a telephone, and a fridge, while ordinary rooms have only TVs. No air conditioning. They say smoking is allowed only in suites, but the hotel was full of chain smokers during my visit. Useful Nearby Businesses: There is Baltyisky Bank and an ATM nearby, numerous clothes stores, jewelry boutiques, cafes. Hotel restaurants: They have a tiny soviet-style café filled with a choking cloud of cigarette smoke. You need a scuba diver's air tank just to walk around in there. It’s simply terrible! Breakfast is included. You can also order lunch and dinner there if you want. Other amenities: None. Would I stay here? NO! Staff speaks English? A little bit. Comments: The lady at the reception desk completely ignored me. She and her friend were too busy chatting and filling the lobby up with cigarette smoke. The security guard turned out to be really nice! I appreciate all the help!
