* Well located mini-hotel * Rates: $160 to $270, breakfast included. Location Rating: Very good. Near ancient Kiev as well as Independence Square. Proximity To Metro: Maybe a 7 to 10 minute walk to Maiden Hezalezhnosti metro station. Lobby Appearance: Small, new lobby. Good impression. Photos of guests on the lobby walls. Room Appearance: This is a small, 24 room hotel which is only 2 years old. Everything looks new and comfortable. Nice quality. The rooms have a certain regalness to them. All rooms have air conditioning, mini-bar, internet access, a bathrobe. Room #119, a single standard with a large bed, and room #123, a double, both have 13 inch TVs. Suite #124 is larger with a more spacious bathroom and jacuzzi tub. A 13 inch TV is in the bedroom, and a 20 inch TV is in the relaxation room. Useful Nearby Businesses: The immediate area is a bit quiet, but within a short walk is everything. Hotel Restaurants: They have a nice little bar with 5 tables. Other Amenities: Very nice sauna area, showers, tiny pool for cooling off, relaxation area. It is $40 an hour to use it. A cash machine is in the lobby. A one hour massage costs about $40. They do have a business center, and quite a nice conference room with attractive original art on the wall. Would I Stay Here? Yes. I like the quiet location and the easy access to things of interest in the heart of the city. Staff Speaks English? English spoken well here. Comments: If you are not in good physical condition, you may not like how the hotel is located on a large hill. My guide on this day was a 30 year old male and I could hear him huffing and puffing a little as we trudged up the hill from Independence Square. Further up the hill is a pleasant square with several interesting ancient orthodox churches. In one of them, you can go up the bell tower for a great view. The rooms do not have safes, but they say valuables can be left in the hotel safe. They do have a business center. If you have a walking disability, it seems like this would not be an appropriate hotel. I did like this hotel and found it attractive, comfortable and well-located. The royal style of room design is not for me, but they are good, well-kept rooms. The fluent English staff is a plus.
