Fairmont New Orleans Hotel     www.fairmont.com/neworleans/

Hotel Phone Number: 504-529-7111

Hotel Street Address: 123 Baronne Street, New Orleans, LA 70112

Location Rating: Excellent.

Lobby Appearance: Excellent. Beautiful old building, with wide, tall ceilings and chandeliers

Room Appearance: Excellent, considering age of building. Old style rooms with closets, well-kept bathrooms, high ceilings, and very comfortable beds.

Useful Nearby Businesses:

Hotel Restaurants: Sazarac Grill and Bar: Very good breakfast buffet, as well as attentive table service. Bar accommodates smoking and is beautiful dark wood bar and comfortable chairs and couches. Fairmont Court Bar: Large open space with live music on most nights (Jazz, Blues, typical New Orleans local groups). Staff is attentive, and space includes couches as well as tables.

Other Amenities: Business Center with basic needs. Also meeting rooms and ball rooms.

Would I Stay There Again?: Absolutely.

Comments: This is the old Roosevelt Hotel, acquired and updated by Fairmont. We stayed during Mardi-Gras, and the hotel is near the French Quarter (approximately 1-2 blocks). The hotel took great care with security measures during this typically-crazy time, and we felt that the hotel was a sanctuary for retreat when the party became too much. Everyone on the staff was very friendly and helpful, even during this stressful period. Some local crowd at the bar, but well-behaved. The hotel is a beautiful old property, possibly one of the best we’ve ever encountered, rivaling and possibly exceeding grand old hotels in New York and Philadelphia. This property is conducive to restful stay, with a touch of class. We have stayed at other properties in New Orleans, and this is the best so far. Most sight-seeing is within walking distance (French Quarter starts across Canal Street, 1 block, and Garden District is approximately 10 blocks, but a nice walk). Trolley line (oldest in country) runs past property. Hotel has High-speed internet access, for a fee. Hallways are beautiful, and wide. Elevators to all floors, wheelchair accessible ramps at entrances. Property includes health center and outdoor pool, but the city is the main attraction.
