Street Address: 5 Druzhba Narodov Blvd.

Rates: $35 to $120

Location Rating: It's next to an excellent fitness center. But not in or close to the center of the city.

Proximity To Metro:

Lobby Appearance: An old lobby with some recent enhancements.

Room Appearance: Room 739 luxury room was all-new and had air conditioning, but it also had a slight mustiness in the air. I saw a room for $40 that you could share with a stranger and pay half ($20). It had no bathroom, so you would need to use a communal toilet and shower. It was nice and with a 13 inch TV. And they only have 4 rooms like this. I saw a nice single with air conditioning, and a 13 inch TV: $50. You can get a similar room without air for $35. On the third floor I saw room #332. It's a double but the way the beds are, it's not good for tall people. The whole room is $55. Or you can pay for half and risk having a roommate. The rooms are nice.

Useful Nearby Businesses: Big fitness center next door. The "Mumbo" Latin restaurant is also here.

Hotel Restaurants: On the second floor they have a nice little bar/cafe which also has a good bakery. We had pastry snacks here for about 16 cents each and a drink was less than 40 cents. Examples of pricing: You can get an omelet for $1 or an omelet with ham for about $1.80. Plus they have an English menu. The cafe was brand new, cheap and good.

Other Amenities: Outdoor pool.

Would I stay here? Yes.

Staff speaks English? Limited English.

Comments: The main hotel is owned by a government labor union. If you get a room on the 7th floor with an odd room number, you'll have a view of the outdoor swimming pool.

Reviews for Kiev hotels were done in October and November 2005 by Ed Ryder. Room pricing should not be relied upon as accurate since rates change for various reasons including strong demand and inflation, and where rates have been provided, it is only meant to serve as a guide and all pricing should be verified with the hotel.
