the city. Proximity to Metro: Very good. It's a 7 to 10 minute walk in either direction. Gostiny Dvor or Mayakovskaya Metro Station. Lobby Appearance: Clean, modern and attractive with plenty of attendants waiting to serve you (or throw you out if you don't belong). Room Appearance: The hotel was opened in 1993 and they are planning on refurbishing their 283 rooms. But they are still fine quality rooms of course. Among the 283 rooms, 110 are non-smoking. Useful Nearby Businesses: Everything is here. You merely have to walk down the sidewalk. Hotel Restaurants: They have some really nice looking restaurants - five. Other Amenities: Everything you would expect a top hotel to have. In addition, they have a doctor available 24 hours a day. Would I Stay Here? Absolutely. Staff Speaks English? Yes, of course. Comments: There is a mini mall here with upscale shops including an interesting little art gallery. As of January 2002 the hotel was sold. The new owners will develop the two adjoining buildings to add more hotel space and shops. But these improvements will not be finished for quite a while and not in time for the 2003 celebration.
