Street Address: Sotsialisticheskaya str., 11-A

Rates: Single $70-$90, Double $90-$110, suite $100-$130, 20% VAT not included.

Location Rating: Good. There’s not much to see on the street where this hotel is located. It’s a 20 minute walk to Nevsky Prospect. Very close to this hotel there is the Cathedral of Our Lady of Vladimir and also the Dostoyevsky apartment-museum. Here one of the greatest Russian writers finished his last novel “The Brothers Karamazov.”

Proximity To Metro: About a 7 minute walk to Vladimirskaya/ Dostoyevskaya Metro Station.

Lobby Appearance: This is a very classy hotel. I felt like I saw a miniature of Angleterre Hotel from the inside.

Room Appearance: The Brothers Karamazov hotel has 28 rooms: 8 singles, 16 doubles and 4 semi suites. A wide diversity of interior elements dating back to the second part of the XIX century was used in the creation of the hotel accommodation. The rooms that I saw were really inviting and I noticed the aroma of fruit candies was everywhere. Currently there is no air-conditioning but they say this will be improved by 2005. Even though the rooms are not air-conditioned it was pleasantly cool inside during my mid-August visit. Perhaps the thick walls of the old building where this hotel is located keep the heat away? All rooms are non-smoking. Each has a mini-bar, satellite TV, international telephone, internet access. The doors are equipped with electronic locks. Bathrooms look very modern and clean. They are equipped with shower cabins and hair dryers.

Useful Nearby Businesses: You’ll have to walk for about 5 minutes to get to Zagorodny prospect where all sorts of businesses are located. Bars, cafes, food stores, a shopping mall, restaurants.

Hotel Restaurants: Brothers Karamazov restaurant is located next door to the main hotel entrance on the first floor where their guests are served buffet breakfast.

Other Amenities: Business center services and safety deposit boxes available at the reception. Guarded parking. Visa support for $30 and visa registration for $0.80.

Would I Stay Here? Absolutely!

Staff Speaks English? Of course!

Comments: Opened in May 2004 the staff of the Brothers Karamazov already believes this place is one of the best in the city. It’s easy to agree with them because the quality of what they offer is a real bargain for what they charge. When we entered into one of the rooms the manager smelled tobacco in the air and immediately called the cleaning lady. On the whole I got the impression the manager was really busy because it took us less than 10 minutes to have the facility tour, she was running real fast! And she constantly kept talking over the phone…
