Big Street Hotel        (no website)         Kiev, Ukraine

Phone: +38-044-250-80-54Big Street Hotel - Kiev, Ukraine

email: bigstreet@bigmir.net

Street Address: Belinka Kilbieva, 8 (next to giant store "Metro")

Rates: from $32!

Location Rating: Poor

Proximity To Metro: I needed to use a driver to get here.

Lobby Appearance: It's a new building.

Room Appearance: First I was shown a really nice cozy room with an attractive old-ish wood floor. It had a queen-sized bed, a 13 inch TV and a small, but very nice and very new bathroom. Everything is new. Just $32 or a little less. For $50 you can get a slightly larger room with air conditioning and a higher ceiling (and carpet). I really liked the $32 room.

They also have 2 special rooms that appear to be for lovers. The first one I was shown went for $40 an hour. It had a very small pool. In another room it had a sauna. There was a spacious relaxation room, and a bedroom. The other special room was similar, but with less space. That goes for $20 a hour.

Also, little cottage houses are being built now. Currently the hotel has just 12 rooms.

Useful Nearby Businesses: There are giant "Cost-co" or "BJ's" type stores nearby. But not much else. This hotel is located along a busy highway.

Hotel Restaurants: They have a non-smoking dining hall (!) and in their restaurant they have live musical evening entertainment. Plus they have a strip tease bar and disco.

Other Amenities: If you want, security guards can escort you to the city (for extra money)

Would I stay here? Yes.

Staff speaks English? The administrator speaks English. Another employee speaks Italian. And another speaks Georgian.

Comments: Big Street Hotel is just 2 years old. It has an upscale air to it, yet it is possible to stay there for so cheap. It's a great value, but far from the center of the city. The lady who showed us around was kind of hot.

Reviews for Kiev hotels were done in October and November 2005 by Ed Ryder. Room pricing should not be relied upon as accurate since rates change for various reasons including strong demand and inflation, and where rates have been provided, it is only meant to serve as a guide and all pricing should be verified with the hotel.
