Best Western Tuscan Inn in San Francisco

Phone Number: 415-561-1100
FAX Number: 415-561-1199 Street Address: 425 Northpoint Street, San Francisco CA 94133 Location Rating: Excellent - about a 5 minute walk to the Fisherman's Wharf - about 15 minutes to the ferry dock for Alcatraz and Pier 39. Recommended by our travel agent so that we would not need a rental car which was a great idea since parking is at a premium in San Francisco and there is plenty of public transportation to reach other areas. Lobby Appearance: The lobby reminded me of a comfortable den with overstuffed comfortable chairs and sofas, a huge fireplace - with a roaring fire! - and a large window area overlooking a courtyard filled with plenty of plants in bloom. One of the extras here is a complimentary glass of wine each evening in the lobby area which creates a friendly atmosphere for the guests. Room Appearance: The building appears to be an older building that has
been well preserved or renovated over time. The floorboards in the halls have a
few squeaky boards but just made it feel more homey. The rooms are small
compared to many other hotel rooms but have been well furnished and decorated to
make the most of the small space. The beds were very comfortable and the room
did not feel as small as it was. Our room had wooden shutters over the windows
that folded back to look onto the courtyard that also faces the lobby. One wall
is mirrored which gives the illusion of a much larger space. There was
sufficient room...just less than some. A seating area and desk unit along with a
console TV, refrigerator, coffeemaker, iron & board and hairdryer are standard
to all rooms. Approximately 220 rooms in this hotel.
Useful Nearby Businesses: Attached to the hotel with a connecting hallway is a wonderful Italian restaurant. I don't know if it's part of the hotel or just convenient. The food was excellent and the restaurant featured brick oven baked pizzas and breads along with a wide selection of Italian dishes. Breakfast was wonderful also. Just a few blocks away is Ghiradelli Square and only a short distance from there is the Fisherman's Wharf area with more shops. Pier 39 with all the shops and other attractions (seals!) was only about a fifteen minute walk from the hotel. Would We Stay There Again? Yes, definitely. The staff were both helpful and courteous. This is a reader supplied review from a former guest of the hotel. 3/28/05
