Best Corner B&B J

St. Petersburg, Russia Phone: 7 (812) 113-1392, 7 (812) 380-0100
e-mail: info@bestcorner.spb.ru Street Address: Zagorodny Prospect 11 Rates: Single $65-$85, double $85-$95, deluxe $100-$115, extra bed for children under 7 y.o. is free, 7 - 15 y.o. $15, adults $25 Location Rating: Excellent. And it’s next door to Kristoff Hotel. Proximity To Metro: Two minute walk to Vladimirskaya/ Dostoyevskaya Metro Station. Lobby Appearance: Spotless and very inviting. Room Appearance: They have only 7 rooms: 1 single, 5 double, 1 deluxe. What struck me as very neat is the design of these rooms - I think this is what differs this B&B from the majority of those that are in the city. Very interesting bedcovers made of rough colored linen (it looks rough but it’s so soft to the touch!) with matching curtains. Each room has it’s own bathroom equipped with a shower cabin with radio. The deluxe room has 3 windows (that overlook the "square of five corners") and it has an enormous bed in the middle which is a real piece of art because of it’s metal decorations! I simply loved it! The girl giving me the tour said this is the room that is most often occupied by newlyweds. Unfortunately, so far they have no air-conditioning in their rooms. The director said they are planning to install air-conditioners in a few months. Useful Nearby Businesses: numerous cafes, restaurants, stores of all kinds, a shopping mall.
Hotel Restaurants: there’s a very cozy ‘kitchen-area’ with 5 or 6 tables there where they offer breakfast for their customers. They serve a buffet table. Also, if you are itching to cook something yourself you’re welcome to use their fridge, microwave, electric stove or whatever. Other Amenities: all rooms have satellite TV, telephones, they are planning to add mini-bars to some of the rooms. Safety deposit boxes are available at the reception, as well internet services (in the corner of the reception area they have a special table with a computer). Internet costs 100 rubles (approx. $3) per hour. Visa support and visa registration. DVDs played from the reception. Would I Stay Here? Yes. I really liked the deluxe room. Staff Speaks English? Yes. Even their director does. Comments: This new hotel (opened in June 2004) is located on the 4th floor of the XIX Century Building. There's a sign on the front door, so it's very easy to find it. Then you have to somehow get inside because there is a code lock on the door. You dial 06 and somebody at the reception will get your message, assess you through one of the video cameras hidden above the door and let you in. They will watch you get into the elevator, get to the 4th floor and ring their doorbell. This is one of their security measures that makes you feel very safe. By summer 2005 they are planning to enlarge their hotel and it will occupy the entire 4th floor. I think the director said they will add 7 or 8 new rooms.
