Bear’s Corner (Medvezhiy Ugol) Motel L (no website) St.
Petersburg, Russia Phone: 7 (812) 538-2729
e-mail: no e-mail Street Address: 31A Rustaveli str. (behind Aksel-Car-Toyota Center) Rates: Suite $100, standard $40. Location Rating: Poor. In a residential area very far from the city center. Proximity To Metro: Poor. It will take 7-10 minutes by bus to get to Akademichaskaya metro station. The bus station is to the left from the motel, near a railway station. Lobby Appearance: Impressive - old Russian style design with an old working fireplace. I really loved the entrance hall. Inside, the entire building is decorated in a “Russian izba wooden-house style” and that gives this place its unique air of coziness. The actual reception desk is to the left in the restaurant. Room Appearance: All 7 rooms are desperate for an update I think. After I saw them I was really disappointed. How come - such a nice place with such ugly rooms? It’s not that the rooms are ugly, no, the furniture is so old that it spoils all the enchantment. I was shocked to see an old piece of junk Soviet TV that was made sometime back in the early 90’s? Maybe earlier…
Useful Nearby Businesses: None. Hotel Restaurants: They have a very interesting and cozy place on the first floor with a bear’s skin on one of the walls and some other hunting details. Other Amenities: Guarded parking. Would I Stay Here? I don’t think so. Only after they do some renovation. Staff Speaks English? No. Comments: I would definitely like to visit their restaurant again!
