Street Address: ulitsa Geroyev Kosmosa, 4 Rates: $70 to $140 Location Rating: Very good... not because of its proximity to the city center (which isn't good) but because it is located in an excellent entertainment complex with bowling, billiards, video games, a fitness center, places to eat, shops. Proximity To Metro: Poor. Nivki metro station is the closest and you will need to take a "marshootka" bus to get there, like marshootka #68. Lobby Appearance: You go up the elevator to the 5th floor. After the elevator door opens, you are in a small, quiet, new orange and blue lobby. Room Appearance: The first room I saw was #524. It is considered a "half luxury suite." Cost: $100. The room looks brand new, but is 2½ years old. The large, but low, low bed looks odd to me. But everything looks comfortable and new. And the rooms all have air conditioning. Next I saw room #526. This one is $140. Extras I saw included a bathrobe and slippers. The TV is 20 inches in size, but the bedroom is plain and without a TV. And last I saw room #535. It has a 13" TV and less space. Just $70. I thought that was a good value. Useful Nearby Businesses: There is a lot here in this building: 24 lane bowling alley with a big bar, some cafes, children's play area, air hockey, American pool, Russian billiards, video games. Man, bowling is expensive here! Friday night: one hour of bowling with shoe rental for 2 people = about $38! Yow... and the place was jump'in. I heard it is the largest bowling alley in Ukraine. You might get metal detect-ored at the front door by a guy who is about 7 feet tall. He is cordial. So, that is just one business. There is a separate billiards hall upstairs. Plus a fitness center where hotels guests get a 20% discount. I had pizza at "Trattoria." They have a separate entrance outside the mall. The pizza was good. Not the best, but still good. There is a disco, a salon where you can get a hair cut, a suntan studio, supermarket, laundry, tourist agency, sauna, internet cafe, and more! I was surprised with how big, modern and comprehensive it is. I was also surprised to discover that I could walk there from my apartment! It took me more than a week to realize that. So I know this neighborhood. It is mostly residential. The metro is too far, but the 68 marshootka runs all the time. I can say that this neighborhood is boring and nowhere near the beautiful old buildings of the city center. Hotel Restaurants: Several places to eat are in this complex. Other Amenities: High speed internet access. 24 hour room service. Would I Stay Here? Yes. It's a great place to be on a rainy day. Lots of things to do here without ever leaving the building. Staff Speaks English? Yes. Comments: They have 36 rooms. Half have been set aside for non-smokers. Some rooms have an interior view of the shopping mall part of the building. There is a business in the building where you can drop off your children. The hotel section of the building was quiet.
